It is a scary experience to come home to find a water main gushing water all over your property or home. It is even more confusing and challenging when you have been served with a NYC DEP Three Day Notice while dealing with a water leak. At a time like that, you want a company that realizes what you are going through, and will work tirelessly to resolve your NYC DEP Three Day Notice emergency as soon as possible. You want a company that takes pride in going the extra mile to ensure the job is done in the most considerate and efficient manner possible. Here is what a recent customer had to say, and the customers photos, after a Balkan Sewer And Water Main repair and restoration from a NYC DEP Three Day Notice.
“To Whom It May Concern: I returned home one Sunday afternoon this winter to find water pouring out of the south side of East 79th Street, across from my apartment. Our building had already been served by the City with a NYC DEP Three Day Notice and I had no idea how to proceed. The DEP and Con Ed showed up the next morning and told me that they would open the street to find the pipe that had ruptured. I learned that I needed to find and engage a company to repair the pipe, which turned out to be the responsibility of our co-op.
When I found Joseph L. Balkan, Inc., and they committed to sending a crew the next day, I could only wonder whether I had made the right decision. I should not have worried. Their crew got to work on a Tuesday morning and worked ceaselessly until the following Monday afternoon. I never saw the men take a break. The crew was on time each morning. A member of the Balkan team slept in their equipment truck in sub-zero temperatures, including one night when the engine failed, and the driver had no heat. That week brought snow, rain, sleet, and frigid temperatures. Each time I engaged the workers in conversation, they were courteous but eager to return to the difficult job.
Seven days later, two lead pipes, deep under 79th Street, had been replaced, new valves installed, the street returned to its original state. We were without water for only a few hours because the water main had to be shut off while the City dug for the broken pipe on the first day. As we are served by two pipes off the main, we had water during the entire period Balkan worked. The DEP returned a few days ago to sign off on Balkan’s job and found no fault with the replacement of the two pipes nor the flow of water to our apartment. If city agencies performed at the high level at which Balkan performs, NYC would be in far better physical condition. Thank you to all those who worked so hard to replace our water pipes, the lifelines we take for granted. Sincerely, Dimitri Sevastopoulo President, 175 79th St. Tenants Corp.”
